7 YouTube SEO Optimization Tips For Real Estate Investors & Agents

Do you see your competition ranking their YouTube videos at the top of Google for the search terms you want to rank for?

    Like This?…

    ranking youtube videos with seo
This is a screenshot of a popular motivated house seller search where our InvestorCarrot customers control the top 3 positions in Google. The #1 position is a YouTube video. Learn how to boost your YouTube video marketing below!

In this post we’ll show you some YouTube SEO optimization tips that you can implement in your real estate investing or agent companies.

In our 90 Day Inbound Online Marketing Action Plan call we did recently we teach real estate investors and agents to have a short-term online lead generation plan and a long-term online lead generation plan.

The short-term things are actions you can take to get visitors to your website (cash buyers, motivated house sellers, tenants, private lenders, note sellers, etc.) within the first 30-60 days while your long-term SEO campaigns build.

One of the marketing tools we love the most for both our short-term and long-term lead generation for ourselves and our high achieving investor clients is YouTube marketing. We wrote a short post about it last year, this post is a more detailed followup on optimizing those YouTube videos.

Infographic: 7 YouTube SEO Optimization Tips To Implement On Your YouTube Videos This Week

The Biggest YouTube Video Marketing Mistakes Real Estate Agents And Investors Are Making Every Day

The reason YouTube videos can rank so darn fast is because of the “Domain Authority” of YouTube.com.

In Google’s eyes, YouTube has the highest possible authority and trust that a website can get.

This makes it so any video uploaded to YouTube automatically has a better chance of ranking quickly for search phrases that it may take you months and months to rank well for with your own website with SEO.

The ROI of YouTube marketing as a house flipper, investor, or agent can be pretty huge for the time you’ll invest. An average wholesale deal could net you approx $5k on the low end right? Would 3-4 hours of video work and “seo boosting” be worth it for that profit potential? The same for agents… what is your average listing worth?

But you only have a better chance if you implement what the graphic above shows and avoid these common mistakes we see investors making.

    Avoid…

    • Not using your main keyword phrase in the video title: Most investors will throw a video on YouTube and not really think much about the title. If you want to rank well for “sell my house fast Madera CA“… your video should have those words in it toward the start of the title.
    • Not uploading enough videos to your channel: Every day we see people asking how to improve their YouTube video rankings… then we look at their YouTube channel and see only 1 or 2 videos in there. Google wants to see that a channel is active. So get at least 4-6 videos in there! Use this training video to help optimize your YouTube channel.
    • Not typing up a good long description in the description box: People forget that Google can only read what we give it to read. So use that description area to really talk about the content in the video. Include your keyword phrase and variations of it… and ideally get your keyword phrase toward the start of your description.  Treat the description box like you’d treat the content on a page on your lead generation website. Get good quality content on there and optimize the content for the phrase you’re wanting to rank for.
    • Not linking to your website from your description with the full “http://www.yoursitehere.com”: A solid way to drive people to your website and get a link back to your website is to include a clickable link in your video description! It’s a no brainer and should be one of the first things you put on your description.
    • Thinking your work is over after you upload your video: If you’re in a competitive market where lots of other real estate investors, wholesalers, flippers, agents… etc. are competing for the same search phrases… you may need to add some SEO “boosters” to get your videos to rank higher. Get people to comment on your videos, share it on social media, link to the video, and post the video on your own website too. You’d be surprised how easy ranking a YouTube video can be with a few of the right steps.

If you’re an InvestorCarrot member, our 3 Lead Per Day Training (only available to active Carrot members) dives into YouTube video marketing really deeply and shows you how to make your videos step by step, upload them, optimize them, and “boost” them after they’re on YouTube.

Why Productivity Hacks Don’t Work (podcast episode)

    why productivity hacks don't work
Feeling Like You’re On A Productivity Hamster Wheel? – Learn my journey in productivity and how I learned that productivity hacks flat out are a waste of time (and what I learned are the core fundamentals of what works)

Ever get to the end of the day or the end of the week and feel wiped out and like you didn’t get anything important done?

    Ya, we all do.

A few years back I was in a major funk and had more days like that than days that felt “productive”. So I was on a constant search for “productivity hacks”, new ways to manage my to-do lists, books, productivity software, and processes all in hopes of finding that magic bullet of productivity to help me get more of the right things done.

But I never found it. In fact, the more I looked for productivity hacks and new ways to manage my to-do list the worse things got.

Until I Learned Why Productivity Hacks Are Like A Bandaid…

… they don’t treat the root problems of why you’re not getting more of the right things done each week and feeling energized and excited about your progress each week.

In my own search, I started thinking back to the times I was the most “effective” (not productive… but effective) to learn what got me in that state.

What I found was productivity is getting more things done… being effective is getting more of the right things done. Productivity hacks like new “to-do” list methods, software that helps you track things, and goal tracking methods were all helping me manage the, ever growing, list of things to do I had to tackle each day.

Looking to be more effective helped me look at life and my daily “to-do” list much more differently. No longer was I looking at ways to get more things done… but I was looking at what things I need to get done to reach my goals… and just getting those things done… and casting aside the other busy work that was just filling in m to-do list and not really getting me closer to my goals.

In that process, I uncovered 4 foundational elements that were all in place when I was the most effective and making the biggest moves toward my goals in life and business. And the cool thing is… when these 4 foundational elements were in place I was happier, more energized, and more profitable as well.

I recorded a podcast with one of our Carrot customers Sharon Vornholt on this topic plus I’ll dive into the 4 elements later in this post.

    In This Podcast, You’ll Learn…

    • My personal story of feeling like I was in a hamster wheel of life… too much to do and not enough time
    • How I ended up discovering I was looking in the wrong places to be more “productive
    • Why our societies search for better “productivity” is making us all less happy, less prosperous, and downright wiped out mentally and physically
    • The 4 foundational elements I uncovered in myself that made me hyper-effective and happy in life (these are BIG)
    • The “focusing question” from “The One Big Thing” and more!

How A 23 Year Old New Investor From California Closed 18 Deals His First Year + How To Get Motivated Seller Leads Online through SEO

Over the past year, we’ve added well over 250 testimonials from our customers to our “Thread of Awesomeness” here at Carrot. The “TOA” as we call it is a section in our internal company communication tool where our team shares awesome stuff our Carrot Inbound Online real estate investing website customers send us on a near-daily basis.

And one of those that we kept seeing pop up consistently, are two young investors out of Southern California named Josh and Adam Justiniano. (NOTE: All content and design on InvestorCarrot websites and our clients are copyright protected to protect our clients. Please do not copy our customers website content or design. It’s just not the cool thing to do.  :-)

Here’s one of the first email convos I had with them about their first deal they closed from the online inbound marketing and SEO campaign (their InvestorCarrot website is a motivated seller lead gen site)

UPDATE: Since then Josh has been closing lots of deals. Here’s an email he sent us this week. He had a property in Sacramento, CA under contract but no buyer so he reached out to us to see if we could connect him with other Carrot members in that area. We did, and he turned that into a deal in less than 2 weeks! The power of our Inbound Marketing system and the Carrot Community in action :-)

    Carrot website deal testimonial

That’s the kinda stuff we LOVE to see!

As you’ll see in the case study video with Josh of QuickHomeOffers below… that was just their FIRST deal from their online inbound marketing efforts for their real estate investing business.

Check out the video case study I did with Josh recently below…

How To Get Motivated Seller Leads Online through SEO – 18 Wholesale Deals In California From Pure Hustle (and smart outsourcing) In Their First Year (12.5 months actually :-) Of Business

In their first full year as real estate investors Josh and his brother Adam closed 18 deals… and when I shot this case study with them in January 2015 they closed another 2 deals that month alone. 4 of those deals came from their SEO (search engine optimization) efforts through InvestorCarrot… totaling over $32,000 in gross profits!

    How’s that for an ROI?

Their story is really inspiring, very real (Josh tells you what it takes to get consistent leads online), and will hopefully help push you over the edge to take action big time in 2015!  And if InvestorCarrot is a part of your journey too this year… awesome! If not, we still love ya and will keep bringing you great content every week just like this.

Investor Carrot Review - 18 Deals In First Year As An Investor w/ Josh. J

Take a demo of Investor Carrot Today!

Important Lessons From This Video Case Study With InvestorCarrot Member And Investor Josh Justiniano

    • Age is only a factor if you make it one (if couple early 20 something investors closed 18 deals their first year… you can too!)
    • Online marketing and SEO, especially for motivated house sellers, isn’t quick and isn’t as simple as just putting a website online and sitting back. Josh dives into what they did to go from ZERO motivated seller leads to a consistent stream of leads in competitive markets with SEO.
    • They tried setting up a website on wix and it failed miserably. Like he says, “I’m not an online marketing expert and have no clue how to write content that converts or what to put where. Carrot made it easy… because I could just follow the format that their content was… and just rewrite some of it in my own words. It converts great and I never could have done that on my own website”
    • Tweaking their content was the first important step. They leveraged our framework to make it easier and quicker and tailored the content to be specific to their own business
    • They bring in their deals with a mix of marketing. Online lead generation is just one part of it. So make sure you have a smart mix of online and offline marketing.
    • They leveraged our “Loopnet” strategy for ranking well in specific cities (if you’re an InvestorCarrot member, check out our full Mastermind Call recording in the call archive to see how to do this strategy in detail. Half of their leads come from this strategy.)

    And more.

If you’re an InvestorCarrot member, use this as inspiration to implement motivated seller lead generation through SEO leveraging the tool you have at your fingertips… our training… and support.

You’ve got the exact same resources as Josh has.

If you’re not an InvestorCarrot member yet and are curious to see if this can help you generate more leads online (motivated sellers, buyers, tenants, note sellers, etc.), take our demo and check out what InvestorCarrot has to offer.

Carrot members hold more page 1 and top 3 positions in Google for search phrases that attract motivated seller leads than any other website platform on the planet.

We’d love to help you grow your real estate business too :-)

  • Does The Bounce Rate On Your Website Really Matter?

Does The Bounce Rate On Your Website Really Matter?

At least a half dozen times a week I get emails from our customers and Carrot newsletter subscribers asking a question like…

“I see my bounce rate is 72% and that seems high. Is it? And does the bounce rate on your website really matter?”

First off… you may be wondering what a “bounce rate” for a real estate investor website is… why your bounce rate matters (and why it may not matter much at all)… and whether yours is even high in the first place (because it may not be).

A few things to think about before I dive in… so you know whether this post is for you.

    • Do you value ranking high in Google for phrases your motivated seller, buyers, tenants, private lenders, etc. are searching?
    • Do you want to increase the number of leads you’re getting online?

If so, you’ll want to read this post :-)

    First…

Does The Bounce Rate On Your Website Really Matter?

What Is A Bounce Rate Anyway?
    (in simple terms)

As far as Google is concerned, in their own words, a bounce rate on a website is… “The percentage of single-page sessions on your website”. In simpler terms… the number of visitors to your website who land on your site… then don’t click anything else and visit any other pages on your site.

    Now, that’s the technical term.

But keep in mind… since your real estate investor websites should focus on generating leads… and a certain % of your visitors will just pick up the phone and call you (especially motivated sellers with our InvestorCarrot websites) without clicking on other pages on your website, those visitors will be considered a “bounced” visitor as far as Google is concerned.

So for a lead generation focused website that has a clear call to action for the visitor to pick up the phone and call you, your actual bounce rate may be a tad lower than your Google Analytics bounce report is showing you.

In addition, I’ve been asked hundreds of times… “What is a good bounce rate?”.

    Really that’s a tough question.

It really depends on where your traffic is coming from and what the purpose of your website is.

If you run a news website and you have a bounce rate of 75%… that may not be a bad thing because people tend to read 1 article and then leave.

If you run an online store selling cool gadgets… and your have a 75% bounce rate… that means people aren’t engaging on your site, checking out other items, or placing things in the shopping cart. In that case 75% isn’t a good thing at all.

Last, if your website is geared primarily as a lead generation tool (especially for motivated real estate sellers)… you shouldn’t really expect a bounce rate below 40%. Heck, you likely shouldn’t expect a bounce rate much below 60% on a page specifically geared to get a motivated seller to sell you their house (unless you use one strategy that we’re testing right now that is yielding lower bounce rates but sellers that aren’t as highly motivated in general… but the jury is still out).

As a great basis of comparison… below is a screenshot of the traffic stats from our Carrot customers for this past 7 days.

Actual Traffic Stats From Our Members Websites In The Past 7 Days

bounce rate for real estate investors websites
Thousands Of Leads… have been generated by Carrot members and top search engine rankings for tons of competitive phrases have been grabbed or held in this past week. The AVERAGE bounce rate is 66.54%… is that good? See below…

Why Can Your Bounce Rate Sometimes Be A Big Deal (and when you should not pay much attention to it)?

Before you check your Google Analytics account and freak out because your bounce rate is 75%… just know that your bounce rate isn’t anything to really sweat over unless you’re really focusing hard on SEO and the conversation rate of your website and are in a place where you’re starting to ramp up your traffic to your website.

If you’re just now getting rolling with your website… or haven’t really started to focus on generating SEO traffic much… skip the rest of this post and go out there and focus on generating traffic to your website first.

NOTE: If you’re an InvestorCarrot member, you can have access to our 3 Lead Per Day training for just $99 that walks through in simple steps how to generate traffic to your websites, rank better, and cut the learning curve. If you’re not generating more than 100 visitors a month to your site yet… don’t worry about your bounce rate! Worry about getting more people to your website first, bounce rate later.

Bounce rate is something we’ve focused on with the way we’ve built our InvestorCarrot websites… so you don’t have to worry about that stuff if you’re a Carrot member.

If you have a website you’ve built yourself, on another system, or had a web guy build one for you who isn’t an expert in real estate investing lead generation… and you’re ready to ramp your leads up… your bounce rate is something you should have an eye on.

Here are a couple of the main reasons you should keep an eye on your bounce rate as a real estate investor.

Bounce Rate Can Affect Your SEO Rankings

It’s been long known that Google looks at hundreds of factors when deciding where your website should rank.

Several of those factors are what are called “user signals”… which are things that the actual website visitor does based on the quality of your website.

According to a recent report put out by SearchMetrics, both Time on Site and Bounce Rate show a positive correlation… that websites that rank in the top 10 in Google tend to have good bounce rates and a longer than average time on site.

    sdf
There is a slight positive correlation... to having a low bounce rate and longer than average “time on site” by the visitor… as seen by Search Metrics in this recent report. This picture above is just one part of the full report of all SEO ranking correlations.

Your bounce rate isn’t one of the first things I’d tell an investor to focus on to increase your rankings… but if you’re struggling to crack into page 1 or rise up page 1 for a search term like “sell house fast DC” or something… take a look and see if your bounce rate is 70% +… or your time on site is less than about 100 seconds.

If it is — you should do something about it for sure.

With InvestorCarrot, to give you a basis of comparison on the “time on site” metric, below are 2 snapshots from our own Google Analytics account.

Avg. Time On Site For The Past 12 Months Across Hundreds Of Investor Websites

    average time on site
Avg. Time On Site… for InvestorCarrot websites the past 12 months. This takes into consideration the seasonally slower and less responsive winter months for buyers and sellers.

Avg. Time On Site For The Busy Warm Months In 2014 Across Hundreds Of Investor Websites

    asfd
As a comparison… the average time on site and bounce rate in the “busy” warm months for seller leads

If you see your bounce rate more than what you see above or your time on site less than what you see above (especially if your average visitor stays less than 100 seconds on site)… check out InvestorCarrot.

Those rates are the average rates across our platform… so some members websites are doing MUCH better because they’re driving more highly targeted and quality traffic… while others are driving lower quality traffic that may “bounce” much more quickly.

In the end, your bounce rate and time on site are factors that can affect your search engine rankings… but don’t spend a lot of time on them if you haven’t even focused on the higher leverage activities you can do to rank better first.

Bounce Rate Is An Indicator On Whether Your Site Is Converting Well Or Not

Another thing that the bounce rate is a leading indicator for… is how well your website is performing.

If your website is geared to convert visitors to leads and you have a bounce rate over 80% lets say, you can bet that the website likely isn’t performing very well on the conversion side of things.

But, does a bounce rate of 70% mean that your website isn’t converting well?

    Not necessarily.

In some markets with PPC marketing, a 9-14% conversion rate is a solid conversion rate for motivated sellers. You could conceivably have a website with a 70% bounce rate and still have a respectable conversion rate of a lead.

What To Do About Your Website Bounce Rate And Let’s Eliminate The Bounce Rate Fear Today…

If you’re not generating much traffic or leads yet… you shouldn’t even be worrying about bounce rate at all. You should be focusing on the higher leverage things to get traffic to your site. Bounce rate is priority number 1,004 on your list of things to worry about at this point.

As an InvestorCarrot member, go through our SEO tools and training… our Craigslist Marketing Course, etc. And heck, our system already has a very good bounce rate and among the best time on site stats in the industry.

If you’re not a Carrot member, no sweat. There are lots of things you can do to start ranking better in Google and getting more leads. In fact, we have free resources here on this website that’ll help you do that.

If you are on page 1 or close… and are having a tough time getting that #1 ranking and you have a bounce rate over 70%… you may want to see what you can do to improve your bounce rate and time on site… it could help give you an edge in Google’s eyes.

Ways To Reduce Your Bounce Rate

    1. Join InvestorCarrot so your website loads faster, is mobile optimized, has better and more engaging content that keeps people on your website longer, and has the conversion elements built into the website to convert higher than the average real estate investing website.
    2. If you’re not on InvestorCarrot, if you’re using just a squeeze page… stop! Use a full lead generation website to ramp up your time on site and lower your bounce rate (and increase your leads).
    3. Write better and more powerful content that engages the person on your site.
    4. Stop using videos that auto play when someone lands on your site (that’s a bounce rate killer).
    5. Make the first impression of your website be a good one. It should feel credible, inviting, and make a connection with the visitor.

In the end, don’t fret about bounce rate if you haven’t started to generate more than 100 visitors a month through your SEO or PPC so far.

And if you have a bounce rate over 70% but are still getting great leads… don’t sweat it! Focus on the big things that will help you drive more traffic and improve conversions… and if you keep doing the right things and keep building your website to provide value to your web visitors your bounce rate may just take care of itself.

  • The Surprising Correlation Between Google +1’s And Your Real Estate Investor Website Ranking

The Surprising Correlation Between Google +1’s And Your Real Estate Investor Website Ranking

google +1 matter for seo rankings for real estate investors

Now more and more getting those high rankings in Google for top search phrases as a real estate investor (wholesaler, flipper, rental property owner, note buyer/seller, turn key investment property seller, etc.) can be a HUGE reward… but it isn’t like it used to be to get your real estate investing company’s website ranked high.

How SEO Used To Be For Real Estate Investors

When I started getting really good at SEO (back in 2007) ranking my own websites high in Google because I didn’t have the money to pay for ads or to pay an SEO firm… it seemed kind of like everyone was gaming the system.

All you had to do was stuff a page with the keyword phrase you wanted to rank for (“sell my house fast Portland”, as an example)… go buy a bunch of backlinks from bogus websites pointing to your website… and get your title tag right… and you were on your way to a better ranking.

But over the years Google has been making updates to the way they rank our websites in their search results. The most recent big update came in October… that focused on websites building “spammy” backlinks.

What these Google updates are doing is making people… including you real estate investors… go back to the basics and really focus on putting together great websites that the visitors actually want to go to and browse around… with great content (not sites with barely any content)… solid credibility… get good quality “votes” from other websites (backlinks) and bumps from social media (Facebook “likes”, Google +1’s, etc.).

With that said… since our members generate over 100,000 visits to their websites per month now… and many of our customers have top rankings in some crazy competitive markets using our tools and training… we’ve seen some major correlation to ranking your real estate investing website high in Google to…

Correlation Between Google +1 – Why It Matters So Much In Your Google Search Rankings and SEO

We first started to see this strong correlation in many of the most competitive markets in the country for highly motivated sellers during our weekly LIVE Coaching Calls with our Pro and Content Pro members (these calls are FREE to Content Pro and Pro members).

When a member would send through their website URL during the Coaching Calls and the search phrases they were going for… I’d do a quick “competitive analysis” there on the call and come up with a quick action plan for them to rank well based on what the websites in the top 5 for those phrases tended to have.

And more and more this year… the number of Google +1’s a website has (or even just the fact that they had some) has been showing up as a strong signal in the websites that were ranking in the first 5 results in a Google result for sellers, buyers, tenants, etc.

As an example… here is one of the top markets for motivated sellers and the top 3 rankings on page 1 vs. the top 3 rankings on page 2 and the Google +1’s they have.

Note that since there are hundreds of ranking factors that Google uses… no single factor is the main differentiator. So you’ll see some of the ones ranked high have lots of Google + action… some have low Google + action… but the thing in common is all of the websites in the top 3 in almost every market we’ve searched has some Google + action happening.

Top Results Houston, Texas – “we buy houses Houston”

    #1 – 410 Google +1’s

    We_Buy_Houses_in_Houston_Fast___Inherited_or_With_Liens_Any_Condition

    #2 –  9 Google +1’s

    Sell_Your_Houston_House_Fast__We_Buy_Houses

    #3 – 16 Google +1’s

    We_Buy_Houses_Houston_-_Fast_Cash_Offers

Collectively in this example… the top 3 ranked pages have a total of 435 Google +1’s.

And a hat tip to Carrot member Guillermo for his #3 ranking (and climbing) in one of the most competitive search phrases in the country for motivated sellers… with his InvestorCarrot website and our SEO service help.

Now the top 3 for the 2nd page in Google…

#11 – 13 Google +1’s (but there are other reasons this site isn’t ranking on page 1 we can go into on another blog post)

    Houston_House_Buyers_-_Any_Condition_-_Cash_Offer_Within_24_Hours

    #12 – 0 Google +1’s

    We_Buy_Houses_Houston___Locations___We_Buy_Ugly_Houses

    #13 – 0 Google +1’s

    123_Homes_Houston___We_buy_houses_in_Houston

    #14 – 0 Google +1’s

    Sell_my_Houston_Texas_home_or_house_today_for_fast_cash__I_buy_Houston_TX_homes

In this example… collectively in the 11-14 positions for the same search phrase… they have 13 Google +1’s.

I can show in many many other top rankings in other markets across the country as well that the…

…top ranked sites on average have more Google + and Facebook activity than the sites ranking on page 2 and below.

This Is Just One Example, Does It Mean There Is Really A Correlation Of Google +1 Activity to Ranking Well In Google For Real Estate Investors?

Even though we have access to probably the best data in the entire real estate investor website industry because of the 10k+ leads per month our members generate and the many many many top search rankings they have with their InvestorCarrot websites…

… we wanted to make sure there was actually a correlation.

Recently a report put out by a top SEO firm, showed its own data on the ranking factors that Google is showing right now in their search results. Notice how high the correlation of social media (including Google +) activity they’re finding in the top-ranked websites across the web.

Correlation Between Google rankings seo ranking factors for real estate investors - searchmetrics
Surprising Google +1 Correlation: As part of a well-optimized website, Google +1’s are showing up more and more in top websites according to this report by SearchMetrics. But, don’t let this blind you from the other important factors that are just as important on your website.

You’ll also notice that just in this one graphic there are many many more things that also are showing up in websites that rank high… so don’t take this article as telling you to go out and buy 100 Google +1’s from Fiverr and your website will rank well.

    That’s not the case.

    Google +1’s Aren’t The Only Answer Though…

Yes, one of the first things we have our members do now on their websites is share their website with their friends and family to get some Google +1’s on their websites… which we make really easy with our built-in social media buttons that you can easily turn on or turn off.

But we do that just to cover our bases.

Your website still has to be built to…

    • Have great content on the whole site that is optimized well for the search phrases sellers, buyers, tenants are typing into Google (which our system makes easier for you)
    • Engage the visitor to stay on your website and click around (which Google looks at as a ranking factor)
    • Have the elements in the actual website code that Google is looking for (which Carrot sites are built to be liked by Google from the ground up)
    • Have solid backlinks pointing to your website (which we have training showing you how to do this)

All this to say… that there’s a lot that goes into getting your website ranked well in Google for search phrases motivated sellers, cash buyers, private lenders, tenants are typing into Google to find what you offer.

Google +1 action is just one of the latest things we’re seeing the top-ranked websites have in common versus the websites that are ranked lower.

So, How Can You Get More Google +1’s For Your Website?

Again, don’t look at this as a quick “SEO fix”. It’s not.

Getting some good social media “likes” is just one part of the puzzle to outrank your competition in Google for your real estate investing business.

But here are some quick easy ways to get some more Google +1 action on your website to give it a better chance of ranking well in your market (if your site is built and optimized with the other SEO factors in mind. If not, take a look at InvestorCarrot to save yourself time and money).

    1. Setup Facebook and Google + sharing buttons on your website (just put them on your homepage and your blog post pages).We_Buy_Houses_Houston-social shares
You can have your web guy do this for you… or if you’re using WordPress and you want to keep hacking your own site together… grab a plugin and configure it.  This is all built into your InvestorCarrot websites and pre-configured so you don’t have to do anything at all.
    2. Create your own Google + account and go to your website, and click the “G+1” icon and while you’re there… hit the Facebook “Like” too
    3. Share your website with your friends and family via email and Facebook with the quick message below:”Hey [name], we’re starting to really grow our real estate investing business and have been working on our website [insert your URL here]. Can you check out my website and give me feedback? It would help a ton!- [your name] PS – While you’re there… can you scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Facebook Like” and “Google +1” buttons too?! It’ll help us out a ton. I’ll love ya forever! “Simple eh?
    4. Do the same thing with your colleagues at your local REIA, your workplace, etc. Get as many people in your network to G +1 your website

    That’s it.

That should get you at least 10-20 likes and +1’s… and give you a great head start.

Wish Kyle Luck On His New Journey And A Big Thanks!

I write this blog post with mixed feelings.

oncarrot kyleBoth bummed at losing such a great team member… someone who has been at InvestorCarrot since almost the beginning (longer than anyone else on the team currently)… but also excited as heck for my brother for taking the next step in his own career to follow his passions and make big things happen in life.

If you didn’t pick it up already, Kyle Mauch (my younger brother) is doing what most people hope to do in their lives… pursue their dream and build a business around their biggest passions.

The End Of An Era, And Beginning Of A Journey

Kyle joined Carrot (before it was called InvestorCarrot) and has worked in pretty much every role (except programmer) in the company. He was the heart and soul of our awesome Customer Support at the beginning… has helped with marketing… with our affiliate program… and overall picked up the slack when we didn’t have the revenue to add new team members in the beginning.

Kyle definitely took one for the team in the beginning and really grew as a team member and entrepreneur while we worked together.

Also during that time Kyle started a company based on his passions.

The past 2 years he’s been working on a business called Athletes Brand, which is a high end apparel company focused on creating the best off-field apparel for athletes.

It’s been amazing seeing what Kyle has done with Athletes Brand… from an idea of just making t-shirts with clever graphics and quotes on them for sports fans… into having dozens of some of the highest profile athletes in the world wearing his clothes.

From Olympians, All-Star baseball players, top soccer players, musicians, and more.

    Athletes_Brand-2

Heck, he was even featured on a national TV advertising campaign for GoDaddy where I was lucky enough to travel with him to North Carolina where he got to pitch his business idea to Danica Patrick while going around the Charlotte Motor Speedway at 125mph+.

It was a pretty wild experience for all of us (video below)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA02x_bymE0

    What’s Next For Kyle?

I’ll be a part of Kyle’s journey from here on out in his journey to grow as an entrepreneur and make a big difference in the lives of people around the world.

But.. up next… he’s tackling a few huge projects with Athletes Brand.

From a new line of clothes… a live music and brew festival here in Oregon in 2015… and a KickStarter campaign to help launch his business and the new line.

So, if you want to follow along and see Kyle’s journey… head over to his website at www.AthletesBrand.com and join his email notification list… and like his page over on Facebook here <<

Let’s All Wish Kyle Luck And Thank Him For Helping Make InvestorCarrot What It Is Today Below!

Shoot Kyle a quick comment below to encourage him to kick some ass out there in the business world.

As you know… us entrepreneurs can use all of the support and encouragement we can get.

And, check out some of his apparel and awesome accessories (beanies, wrist bands, bags, etc.) over at his website.

If you like something… pick up a shirt! My favorite is the #belief t.

But you can see the whole line of clothing by clicking the graphic below.

So Kyle… we all thank you for your time here at Carrot… appreciate the heck outta you… and wish you luck in dominating the world with your passion and entrepreneurial chops.

But everyone had a blast with it. Of course Carrot is going NOWHERE and we’re excited at the future of InvestorCarrot and our customers :-) Now… 364 more days to plan next years April fools… ;-)

    carrotsvsturnip

For the past year, our team over here at Carrot has been working hard to help you grow your real estate businesses… and have fun doing it.  We’ve grown from zero customers to well over 500 active members now… and growing each and every week.

Yes, we’ve had some stumbles as we’ve grown and some growing pains… but we’re proud to say that we’re starting to make our little dent in the universe one Carrot member at a time.  We literally get testimonials and stories from our members every single day talking about how Carrot has literally changed their businesses.

NOTE: See her comment in that post on where she says all of her leads come from. Online in her case = InvestorCarrot. We love it!

With All Of The Deals, Leads, Great Conversions, Fun Carrot Bud Shares… It’s Time For A Change.

Our Carrot staffer April Phouls doodling the heck outta our whiteboard to map out our bigger better future. See the full whiteboard here

Around the start of 2014 we really got to looking at things.

We looked at the future of Carrot as a company, a product, our customers needs and goals… and saw things in a bigger brighter future.

We mapped out our next “evolution” of Carrot as a brand… a product… and a force to help change the world… and in the end, decided that with a huge strategy shift… should come a fresh new brand identity to usher in this new era here at our company.

Announcing Our New Name: Turnip (InvestorTurnip). Yep, that’s right… let’s “Turn It Up With Turnip!

    turnip_logo_previewNow, I know what you’re thinking.

    First off, why?

Why turnip? Wasn’t Carrot just perfectly fine?

Well, we didn’t come to this decision lightly. We really loved (and still do) the Carrot name.

Our members have come to love the Carrot Bud (our mascot) sightings… getting a random Carrot gift in the mail when you do something cool with our company… and the all around great feeling you get when you see the color Orange all over the place.

We get it. We loved “InvestorCarrot”.

But we’re all about staying ahead of the curve.

Whether it’s keeping our technology at the cutting edge so you as our customer stay at the cutting edge… or continually providing epic training to help you stay sharp…

… and we did some research and noticed that the brand of carrots in general (the vegetable) has remained stagnant over recent years… while the brand of turnips has actually increased in popularity with Americans.

Since we’re all geeky with Google search data… we ran some reports and found that Google Trends shows that turnips have really grown in popularity over carrots in the past decade.  See the chart below from Google Trends.

And we don’t want to have our brand attached to a “dying” vegetable.

Turnips are the future. And InvestorTurnip is your future.

    carrots-vs-turnips2
The Growing Popularity of the Turnip: Are Carrots dying? We’re not going to wait around to find out.

Further Research That Helped Shape Our Rebranding Decision

When I initially came up with the “InvestorCarrot” brand back in late 2012… I really loved the ring of the name “Carrot”.

But I really didn’t do any “market research” on people’s perception of the Carrot.

Once I saw the startling data above (that Carrots are losing popularity to Turnips) I decided to actually do the right thing this time around… and put in some time in market research. As we all know, your brand can be HUGE in how people perceive you.

Name a shoe company “Slow Shoes”… and you’re dead in the water. But “Air Jordans”… and the sky is the limit.

So surprisingly, once I got out there and started asking around and doing “blind taste tests”… I started to see the same.

In fact, at my daughters pre-school we ran a taste test with a bunch of 3 – 5 year olds... kids who have grown up on “Go-Gurt” (is that even real yogurt? I’m still not sure… ) and baby carrots (kids these days don’t even know what a real carrot actually looks like! They think they all grow to be just “baby carrots”)… as you can see in the picture below…

Turnips beat out carrots by a wide margin in this taste test

Screen Shot 2014-03-31 at 10.20.50 PM
Little Henry munching on a little turnip. Kid tested and kid approved!

Kids are our future… and if this company wants to stay relevant and “on the cutting edge”… we feel that by getting on the turnip bandwagon before the majority of American’s realize there’s even a band wagon to get on… we’ll be setting a trend and get a lot of early adopters who just like to be the “first” to do the new cool thing

We feel that turnips are iN

… and Carrots are on the way out.

We found some interesting facts about the turnip that we really loved too… check them out on the Turnip Wikipedia page. I think you’ll find them pretty darn awesome too.

How Does This Affect You As A Carrot / Turnip Member?

Screen Shot 2014-03-31 at 10.54.40 PM

First off, if you’re already an InvestorTurnip member (all members have been migrated to our new InvestorTurnip platform effective today) you don’t have to do anything.

Just toss out the Carrot Bud doll if you were lucky enough to get one (or save it as a collectors item and sell it on ebay someday)… and we’ll soon be coming out with our new “Terry the Turnip” mascot dolls… and our new Turnip t-shirts that are almost done with production. More on that soon.

There are a couple things you’ll need to do though before your Carrot account is fully operational on our new InvestorTurnip account.

Follow the quick steps below today and lets usher in the new era and welcome in our new brand identity of InvestorTurnip!

Step 1: Post a quick comment below (and “like” this post) and let us know about your excitement for the new branding! Research shows you’re bound to love it! But we’d love to hear. Comment below!

Step 2: Just so you’re up on the “latest” turnip factoids (and the surprising but true meaning of the word “turnip”… head over to the wikipedia turnip page << Check it out

Step 3: We haven’t 100% committed to the whole “InvestorTurnip” brand yet, our lawyers (dontcha love ’em?) are looking into any possible trademark infringements or other legalities that may prevent us from going all “turnip” on ya. So keep a look out for future announcements.
